What each vendor's terms say about commercial use

Which paid plan: the first one, or the third one across

Kling AI's commercial-use line sits on the first paid membership. Pika's appears on the third card across, which leaves a paid plan at eight dollars below the licence rather than at it. As of 2026-09-22.

Inclusion rule. Two vendors whose published answers in one column point in different directions, or sit far enough apart that a reader choosing between them would decide differently. Order. The vendor named first in the heading is the one whose wording is quoted first.

1The gap between an invoice and a licence

Both rows put commercial use behind a paywall, and only one of them has a card where a customer has paid and is still outside the permission. That card is where nearly all the confusion in this column comes from.

A free plan invites a second look. An invoice does the opposite: people who have paid assume they have bought the thing they came for, and nothing in the product tells them otherwise at generation time.

2Why the figures matter less than the position

Ten dollars against twenty-eight is a real difference and it is not the important one. The important one is that a buyer on the cheaper product cannot accidentally be paying and unlicensed, and on the other product they can.

That is why this column records a plan name and a figure rather than a simple paid or free flag. The flag would hide the only distinction that changes anybody's behaviour.

3What both rows leave out

Neither vendor publishes anything about ownership of the finished work, and neither says what may be supplied as an input. Two cells filled and two blank, on both rows.

Which puts a limit on what this comparison settles. Whichever crossing point a buyer prefers, the procurement questions are unanswered at any price on the pages read for this register.
