Whether someone else can end up with the same output
Five of the seventeen vendors publish something on whether output is theirs, yours alone, or open to others. Two take a licence back over what is generated, one makes free users' work public for others to remix, one says plainly that output is not exclusive, and one says you own it to the extent the law allows. As of 2026-10-13.
| Vendor | What is published about exclusivity or reuse | Who else may use the output |
|---|---|---|
| Hailuo AI | A non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence back to the vendor | The vendor and its affiliates |
| HunyuanVideo | No rights claimed in outputs; the user is solely responsible for them | Not addressed |
| Leonardo.Ai | Free users' concepts publicly viewable for others to copy and remix | Other users, and the vendor for public content |
| SceneMixer | Not exclusive; someone else's similar prompt can produce something similar | The vendor, to run the service and to showcase public work |
| Stable Video Diffusion | You own outputs to the extent permitted by applicable law | Not addressed |
Inclusion rule. Vendors whose pages address exclusivity, a licence back over output, or public reuse of what a user generates. A vendor silent on all three is not given a row. Order. Alphabetical by vendor.
1Owning a clip is not the same as holding it alone
A brand that commissions a spot usually assumes nobody else will run the same footage. Generation does not promise that. One vendor states it outright: generation is probabilistic but not infinitely divergent, and a similar prompt from someone else can produce something recognisably similar. The user gets the right to use what was made, not a promise that nobody else will hold something like it.
That sentence is unusual mainly for being written down. It describes every row on this page, including the ones that say nothing about it.
2A licence back to the vendor is a second kind of sharing
Two vendors take a licence over what users generate. One asks for a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, reproduce, modify and display content. Another keeps worldwide perpetual rights over public content, and makes free users' concepts visible for others to copy and remix. The SceneMixer guide describes a narrower licence: to run the service, for safety review and for quality work on de-identified data, with public or submitted work treated as licensed for showcase.
For campaign footage the difference matters before launch, not after. Material made on a public tier can be visible to other users before the brand has published it.
3Registration is a separate question again
Even an exclusive clip may not be registrable. One guide notes that several jurisdictions refuse registration for work without sufficient human authorship, and declines to promise it. Where registration matters, the human-authored layers around the footage, script and edit, are what a production can document.
- What the user grants backUsing the services grants Hailuo and its affiliates a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, reproduce, modify and display the contentstated on the same page
- What is ownedTencent claims no rights in Outputs you generate, and you and your users are solely responsible for Outputs and their subsequent usesstated in the licence itself
- What the free tier costs insteadA free user's design concepts are publicly viewable for other Leonardo users to copy and remixstated on the same page
- What is ownedFor public content Leonardo.Ai and its successors retain worldwide perpetual rights to use, copy, reproduce, process, adapt, modify, publish, transmit and create derivative worksthe public side of the same clause
- ExclusivityOutput is not exclusive to the user, and a similar prompt from someone else can produce something recognisably similar
- RegistrabilityRegistration as a copyrighted work is not promised, because several jurisdictions refuse work without sufficient human authorship
- What the vendor may do with outputThe user grants a licence to run the service, for safety review and to improve quality on de-identified data, and content published publicly or submitted as a sample is treated as licensed for showcase
- What is ownedYou own any outputs generated from the Models or Derivative Works to the extent permitted by applicable lawstated in the licence
