Who carries the risk if generated output infringes
Four vendors publish something on what happens if output infringes someone's rights. One describes its models as safe for commercial use because of how they were trained. One ties its commercial grant to clean inputs. Two state that responsibility sits with the user, one of them adding that it gives no warranty and no indemnity. As of 2026-10-13.
| Vendor | What is published about infringement | Where the risk sits |
|---|---|---|
| Adobe Firefly | Outputs described as safe for commercial use; models trained on licensed and public domain content | Addressed through training data |
| HeyGen | Commercial use holds as long as inputs avoid copyright violations | On the user's inputs |
| HunyuanVideo | The user is solely responsible for outputs and their subsequent uses | With the user |
| SceneMixer | No warranty against infringement and no indemnity; liability capped against what was paid | With the user, for output and for what was fed in |
Inclusion rule. Vendors whose pages address infringement, warranty or responsibility for output. Terms of service that were not read for this register are not counted. Order. Alphabetical by vendor.
1Training data is where the one reassurance comes from
One vendor's claim rests on what its models learned from: licensed content and public domain content whose copyright has expired. That is the only row here that offers comfort about the output itself, and it does so by describing the input to the model rather than by warranting any particular clip.
2Everyone else puts it with the user, some more plainly than others
One licence says the user is solely responsible for outputs and their uses. One guide says there is no warranty that output infringes nobody's rights and no indemnity, that responsibility for what is generated and what was fed in sits with the user, and that liability is capped against what the user paid. It adds that commercial use is also subject to the terms of the model services underneath, which it does not control.
That last point is worth reading twice. A tool that routes generation to several model providers inherits their terms as well as its own, and a brand review that reads only the tool's page has read half the stack.
3A condition on inputs is a condition on the grant
Where a commercial grant holds only while inputs avoid copyright violations, an infringing upload reaches the licence as well as the rights holder. That moves the clearance work to the start of the job, which is where a brand's own process should already have put it.

- Why the claim is madeThe models are described as trained on licensed content and public domain content where copyright has expiredthe training source
- Commercial useOnce a video is created it may be used and distributed across any platform, including for commercial purposes, as long as the inputs align with standard guidelinesstated without naming a plan
- Input restrictionThe guidelines ask that uploaded materials avoid copyright violations and that character inputs stay free of sensitive or offensive languagethe condition attached to the grant
- What is ownedTencent claims no rights in Outputs you generate, and you and your users are solely responsible for Outputs and their subsequent usesstated in the licence itself
- Who carries infringement riskNo warranty that output infringes nobody's rights and no indemnity; responsibility for what is generated and what was fed in sits with the user, and liability is capped against what was paid
- A second set of termsCommercial use is also subject to the terms of the model services underneath, which the vendor does not control

Each row quotes a plan card or a terms page, gathered on commercial use and read 2026-10-13. The test a sentence has to pass before it counts as a licence statement is set out on the reading page. Nothing here is legal advice. Nearby: Free tiers, Crossing points, Owning vs allowed.
