What each vendor's terms say about commercial use

What a free tier lets you do with the output

Five of the seventeen vendors withhold commercial use on the free tier. Two state the exclusion in words, three are established from a line missing off a plan table, and five vendors grant commercial use on the free tier and charge for something else instead, three of which are listed below. As of 2026-10-13.

Inclusion rule. Vendors with a public English pricing page. A free tier that cannot be read from a public page is not listed. Order. Stated exclusions first, then the readings established by omission, then the free tiers that grant it, then vendors with no free tier.

1A defined exclusion beats an implied one, and only one vendor offers it

Personal use described as excluding promotional activity for a business, a service or a product is a sentence a reader can act on without interpretation. It covers a brand's own social posts, not just paid advertising, which is wider than most people assume when they hear personal use.

The others state the positive side and leave the negative implicit. Where a vendor has not defined the boundary, this register records the plan and not a guess about what falls outside it.

2Free tiers are where the exposure is created

Trials and pitches run on free seats. The footage from those has a way of surviving into a delivered campaign months later, by which time nobody remembers which seat produced which clip.

That is a records problem rather than a licensing one, and it is the practical reason this column exists. A register that only covered paid tiers would describe the position of files nobody is worried about.

3No free tier removes one problem cleanly

A vendor whose cheapest route is a paid plan carrying the commercial line has no free-tier trap to fall into. The cheapest way to generate anything is already licensed.

It is recorded here as a structural fact rather than an advantage: the same arrangement means there is no way to evaluate the product without paying, which some buyers will weigh the other way.
