What has to be true before two rows are set side by side
A comparison gets a page when two vendors answer the same column in opposite directions, or when the distance between their answers would change a decision. Two vendors saying the same thing are one finding printed twice. As of 2026-09-22.
| The two answers | Whether it earns a page |
|---|---|
| Opposite directions, both in writing | Yes |
| Same direction, far apart on a figure or a mechanism | Yes |
| One written sentence against one reading from an absence | Yes: the asymmetry is the point |
| Both silent, or both saying the same thing | No |
Inclusion rule. Rules this register applies to every row. A rule is written down here when following it changes what a cell says, or when breaking it would make the grid look more complete than it is. Order. Reading order: the ordinary case first, then the awkward ones.
1The grid already does scanning
Seventeen rows and four columns are built for a glance. What a glance cannot do is hold two answers against each other long enough to show what the difference consists of, and the mechanism behind a difference is the part a reader can act on.
So each comparison takes one column and two vendors, quotes both, and says what the gap is made of. Sometimes a price. More often a shape.
2Why agreement is not a comparison
Two vendors both publishing no free plan look like a pair and are not: the finding is identical on both sides, so the page would be one cell printed twice. The same applies to the rows silent on ownership.
Pages like that are how a site inflates without adding anything, and they are worse than nothing because they push the useful comparisons further down a list.
3What a comparison page will not do
Rank the two. A cheaper crossing point is not a better product and a written exclusion is not a worse one, and nothing in these documents supports a judgement about value.
The page stops at what each document says and what follows from the difference. Choosing between them needs criteria a reader brings, not criteria a register can supply.
4The rest of the method
A rule about recording, not a statement about any vendor: nothing on this page is attributed and nothing on it is legal advice. The rules are collected on the reading page, the quoted clauses are on commercial use, and the cells this rule produced are on the recorded cells. Nearby rules: Counting, Not recorded.
5A generator's account of it
Alongside the terms behind “Pairs”, SceneMixer's guides describe the work itself this way:
For places, every photo you add becomes a set the shots can move through, up to four.

The script is written from the photos and the one-line description. In step-by-step mode you can rewrite it before anything is shot.
