What each vendor's terms say about commercial use

A stock avatar, and the restrictions that travel with it

A stock avatar is a presenter the supplier provides, built from somebody who was filmed under an agreement. Limits attached to that agreement travel with the avatar, which is why no subscription can lift them. As of 2026-09-22.

A restriction that belongs to a person, not a planBehind a supplied presenter is somebody filmed under an agreement. Inclusion rule. Phrases that appear in more than one vendor's permissions documents and that change what a sentence means. A phrase used by a single vendor in a single clause is described on that vendor's own page instead. Order. Reading order: where you meet it, then what it settles, then what it does not.

1A presenter is a person with a contract

Behind a stock avatar there is somebody who agreed to be filmed for certain uses. The supplier cannot grant a customer more than that person granted, so the limit is structural rather than commercial.

That explains why paid advertising is the use most often named. Appearing in an advertisement is exactly the use a performer prices separately, and a general filming agreement usually does not include it.

2Why the plan page cannot tell you

Plan pages describe what a subscription includes, and this restriction is not a feature of a subscription. A reader working out what they may do by comparing tiers will find nothing about it and will draw a confident wrong conclusion.

Where such a limit exists, it is the most important sentence about that product and it is filed somewhere a buyer does not look. Recording where a statement lives is part of recording the statement.

3The route out, and what it costs

Using a presenter the customer has their own agreement with. That lifts the supplier's restriction and replaces it with an obligation to the person: consent, scope, and a record of both.

Which is a trade rather than an escape. The limit moves from a document the customer cannot change to an agreement the customer has to manage, and the second one is the durable responsibility.

4From the making side

Alongside the terms behind “Stock avatar”, SceneMixer's guides describe the work itself this way:

The music runs across the end card and comes to an end with the film.

The product image is always redrawn from your original photo so it stays your product.

5Where the sourced wording is

A word page, not an entry in the register: nothing above is attributed to any vendor and nothing above is legal advice. The quoted clauses are on commercial use, the column this phrase turns up in is input restriction, and the reading rules are on the reading page. Next words: Custom avatar, Indemnity, As is.
